Enerblue collaborated in the realisation of an approximately 1.1 MW installation with 5 air-to-water propane heat pumps included in a system supported by 2 additional water-to-water heat pumps with a thermal output of 700 kW. The installation meets the cooling and heating needs of production and office spaces in an industrial automation company with headquarters in Austria.
The choice of a versatile, natural gas such as propane is part of the sustainable policy adopted by the owners to convert existing systems and consequently limit consumption while having a limited impact on the environment.
The installation involves 5 propane air-water heat pumps of the Purple HP series size 50.2 with semi-hermetic piston compressors and inverter technology managed in cascade by the Manager pro. Specific logics have been developed: one of them involves alternating defrosting of the 5 units so that the system works continuously ensuring no productive gaps. The 2 IRON 350.2, propane water cooled heat pumps installed inside the machinery room act as a back-up in order to optimise plant operation. During the winter months when outside temperatures fall below -12°C and the demand on the user side is +58°C in order to maintain a high coefficient of performance, IRON heat pumps are automatically switched on.
